Cincy Day 4: Gone with the Wind
Boy, I’m so glad I didn’t watch the match between Ferrer and Federer live today. Just watching a recording of it made me want to stab myself in the eye with a pen.
MAJOR eye baggage:

For someone who likes to play in the wind, Fed was having so much trouble adjusting to it. The forehand was gone with the wind, the backhand stayed home to look after Myla and Charlene. He clearly didn’t get much sleep last night, and decided to take a nap in the middle of the first set.
I think at the beginning maybe my footwork was just a touch off. After that I think got it together, you know, and started to play better and better. In the end when it goes your way, all of a sudden you can actually use the wind to your advantage in a big way. That’s what I actually hoped to do the whole match today, but it’s not so easy sometimes.
It’s all your fault Myla! Barf on him Charlene! Threaten him with another set of twins Mirka! Do it for the Federer fans who have lost nails, hair and developed stomach ulcers from watching this guy play.
And in case you were wondering why we’re still sadistic enough to watch Federer if we’re slowly developing bald patches because of him: I, for one, live my life from one Fedgasm to the next. And despite his sub-par performance, Roger did deliver some Fedgasms towards the end of the third set:
OH YES!
Roger is due to face Lleyton Hewitt next round, who took out Roddick conqueror Sam Querrey 6-1 2-6 6-3. Real trouper, Lleyton, but you’re a Kiwi to me, for at least the next 24 hours.
Ahndee Murray had a much easier time squishing the Worm 6-4 6-1. Didn’t watch it, but with Murray’s defense and control over the ball, I expect him to feed junk balls and passing shots back at Stepanek. No problems there with the wind.
Huh? AP Photo/The Canadian Press, Paul Chiasson
Rafa was down 0-3 briefly in the first set before rallying past Paul-Henri Mathieu 7-5 6-2. It’s been a while since I’ve seen Rafa play properly, but it was befuddling watching him slice. Has he always done that?
In other matches, Gilles Simon took out Davo 7-6(6) 6-4 6-4. Lucky Loser Julien Benneteau downed Garcia-Lopez in three sets to set up an unlucky meeting with Toothface. Djokovic took out Chardy in straight sets 7-5 6-3, and no one cares.
Lastly: someone requested the music to the Rolex Federer ads. This was sent to me anonymously a few weeks back, and the link expired, so I reupped it. Clickey.
Enjoy!
xx doots
I, for one, live my life from one Fedgasm to the next.”
oh yeah, more truer words have not being typed. I’m glad he had a morning match and I couldn’t be bothered to stay up till (or rather rise) at 2am, it he had a night match, odds are I’d be frazzling and pulling my hair out at work.
we’re terminal cases LJ! Damn American timezones!
Thanks for the updates. The time difference makes it difficult for me to watch the matches, and as much as I like Fed I love my sleep 🙂 And that shot! How on earth does he do it?
You love sleep more than Fed? How blasphemous!
I was in total Fed Fan Zen today. I watched the first set and then I had class. Usually I’m frazzling and not paying attention but not today.
I guess I was pissed at Roger for the Tsonga match more because of the way he lost rather than the fact that he did. Today I just accepted the fact that he was going to lose(he didn’t so yay!) and I actually moved on. My world did not stop. Impressive huh?
Cool as cucumber ya’ll. Cool as a cucumber.
I don’t understand how you can be in Fed Fan Zen i’ve been frazzling constantly since Federer lost to Tsonga. I hope Hewitt’s leg falls off prior or during his match with Federer, same with toothface his legs needs to fall off as well becaue Fed will play first so he doesn’t know who his semi-final opponent could be, so he can’t tank it to avoid him.
Mirka better keep the twins away from Roger during the US open.
I’ve just decided to leave the frazzling for Grand Slams. It’ll keep me sane longer. And I won’t walk around pissed and snapping at people so much anymore. =P
Although, if he plays Fangs….let the frazzling begin!
Just looked at the schedule, Murray is playing first this today so Federer could decide to tank it if Murray wins, if he loses he has done it on purpose since as he’s beaten Hewitt 12 times in a row and Hewitt isn’t exactly 100% at the moment.
Say no to Federfan Zen! Just say NO! I would rather be red hot chili peppers than cool-as cucumbers!
*frazzles for all eternity*
Oh hell, the first thing I saw after getting back from results stuff? That Federpoop was down a set. Not pretty. He should stop doing this to us poor fans. 😦 Watched most of Rafa’s match, except I wasn’t really that awake tbh…
And happy birthday for yesterday(?) too! 🙂
Today actually! And thanks breadstix!
Federpoop is a total wanker! Sif make us lose more hair and brain cells over him!!!
It’s all Mirka’s fault. She’s not turning up to his matches anymore! >:O
Oooer, happy birrrthddaaay! 😀 (Great timing, heeehe)
That’s why he’s a total poop. >:[ Can’t blame Mirka for not being there though… imagine if she showed up with the twins… Swissy’d be shanking balls all the way into the stands…
But he knows that she will be watching so he should still play better and quicker.
well Roger won 15 slams with Mirka watching. I’m beginning to think it’s not him, IT’S HER!
Mirka = GOAT.
You are a crackup. Your wrapup in the last paragraph is spot on. Unlucky meeting with Toothface…nobody cares…you’re killin’ me over here!
And speaking of killing me, I tuned in to the Fed match yesterday just in time to see him go from 40-0 up in a 3rd-set service game to losing his serve. I hope my husband likes bald ladies, because… Yeah. Oh, and then there were the three – or were they four? – backhand rim-shots *in a row*. Holy moly…
hehehehe! Ann remind your husband that statistically, you’re the one who’s more likely to have to put up with a bald spouse! 😉
But I know what you mean: when Fed plays like that, it just makes me want to shove things up where things don’t belong!
I thought of you, by the way, when I saw the score at the end. “At least he didn’t rain on dootsiez’s birthday,” I thought. Happy Birthday!
heheheh indeed! C’mon Roger. Win this for me!
To frazzle or not to frazzle? Nah, am still in Zen mode. And I still would not mind if Rog checks out against Lleyton. He does have a lot of other things to think about: feeding bottles sterilized, check; twins’ booties, check … and besides, Cincy is not yet the time for spanking MAndy. Arthur Ashe, here we go.
I don’t think toothy- porridge-scary- face can be beaten on hardcourts. I’m am still frazzling. I hope Rafa and over hyped ^^ are in the same half at the us open.
4 comments in one post? I can’t help frazzling…. i’m going to stop posting comments and frazzle now *frazzle* *frazzle frazzle* *frazzle*
*frazzles frazzle frazzle*
Mia – you’re totally losing your Federfan mojo. What are we if not a bunch of neurotic fretful nutjobs?! 😉
Hah, it’s Toothface that’s currently frazzled against Benneteau. See, am still caught up in the rapture of RG and Wimbledon. Got nothing but love for the Raj. No frazzling till the USO. That’s also in the interest of self-preservation.
See, you understand me. I’m saving up all of my frazzling for the Open. Cuz I just KNOW there’s gonna be so much need for it.
I would really like a Fangs/Fed semi. So come on Muzz!
God, that first set was awful, I didn’t bother watching the rest of the match (it was on DVR so I knew the result already). Glad it got better, but the whole time I couldn’t get over how *ugly* the tennis looked! Roger Federer playing ugly tennis??? I couldn’t bear it lol.
