Basel: You have my permission to FRAZZLE.

If you were Novak Djokovic: you’ve played two bad matches, two good ones. You’ve posted good results all year, but with a terrible record in finals. And now you are presented with an opportunity to take out Roger Federer in Roger Federer Stadium, in front of his home crowd, right before the last Masters Series tournament of the year, is that extra motivation?

Or is that just Dootsie freaking out on a finals day over some potato-nosed douchebag from Basel?

Like Stan the day before, Radek Stepanek had his chances, 3 match points in fact, and all credit to Nole for digging himself out of trouble with good serves and solid play. But he’s going to need some extra motivation … or for Roger to be off his game a little, which I’ve been waiting for all week, but it actually hasn’t happened.

I never thought I’d say this, but I miss the days when Novak Djokovic was just a pain in the ass. What happened to him? He learnt political correctness. He learnt to pay lip service to the press and other players. He learnt to downtalk his own game. He’s a lot nicer a person, less spectacular a tennis player. Like so:

I wouldn’t say necessarily it was my good shots that prevented the loss. It was luck only,” Djokovic said. “I just tried to get some first serves in and at least get that advantage. On this (hard-court) surface, it’s crucial.”

Must admit, I rather enjoyed the tensions between Jelena Ristic and Nikki Vee more than the match itself. Pumpkin-coloured and over-animated she might be, Jelena Ristic is full of win.

Some ‘Federnelli’ piccies to warm your ovaries. Unless you don’t have one, in which case, you poor deprived child.

I do slightly love Jelena, she’s like a Mirka lite (because no one can be as awesome as Mirka :P),and like Mirka is more than just a brainless bimbo model from the usual sportsman’s girlfriend production line!
She’s still studying economics in Milan right, although she seems to have been doing that for AAGES…
I actually had to think for a few seconds who you were referring to as Nikki Vee,’oh yeahh,Vaidasova…’,just checked her ranking,it’s currently no. 186,which is um,special…
And Federnelli=so much win it’s ridiculous, was the first time they’d played each other on ATP no?

      Nikki’s at 186? How quickly we forget…

Fave wag is obviously Mirka, and then Irina. But Jelena Ristic is up there in terms of players box entertainment. She gets so into it!

Sara Foster (Tommy Haas’ fiancé)is also pretty hilarious in that respect, her giving Querrey’s ‘Samurai’ evil looks and shouting at them during their entire match earlier this year (I wanna say in LA?) was so so funny, and her and Mirka seem to be friends,so that makes her almost awesome by default 😛

        • dootsiez says :

Sara Foster’s not my cuppa, I tend to confuse her with an older version of Brooklyn Decker.

although … she and Mirka were totally chatting up a storm at Wimbledon.

No, Jelena has finished her studies in Italy and as per recent Nole’s interview, she is actually employed as an economist in a Monte Carlo company (Nole’s official residence is also MC).

      • FortuneCookie says :

Ah okay thanks, didn’t know that! Was going to say,do they have extremely long degree programmes in Italy or something lol?Cos that little bit of info has been in articles for years and years it seems like…
Like I said before, good for her having an independent career when she could so easily just live off her extremely rich boyfriend 🙂

That last picture = SO MUCH WIN

As for frazzling, I’m following the matchcalls at, and yeah, Roger just got broken. *facepalm*

On the other hand, if Nole plays well to win and follows Fed’s lead in bringing in pizza for the ballkids, I won’t be too unhappy with him.

    • dootsiez says :

I don’t do “post-lost zen”. The kids in Basel should starve themselves in protest against Roger’s loss.

      NOT. HAPPY.

  3. FortuneCookie says :

Well that was great,oh Rog…and for once I wasn’t in a frazzling mood!

  4. Jennifer says :

Well… that final was pretty disgusting to watch wouldn’t you agree? I kept on having flash backs of Miami this year, except without Federer playing a good first set.

Pretty bad all around for Roger; forehand was completely out of whack. Poor Rog couldn’t buy a forehand even if he tried 😦 Even a first % of 71 and 10 aces couldn’t save himself from his own groundstrokes 😐

(let’s not even consider his horrendous number of UFE and his break point conversion)

So much frazzingly in this match. *SIGH* myabe next year?

    • Jennifer says :

whoops! i meant to say frazzling 😛

    • dootsiez says :

Pretty bad sums it up. It wasn’t as horrendous as Miami though. Roger was still moving well. The attack game was just not there and against a player like Djokovic, you can’t just leave one of your weapons at home.

  5. Mia says :

Utterly lousy from Roger. [Goes off to bawl]

  6. DV says :

I know he has to lose from time to time… but from this guy… I want to sleep and forget that I watched TV today.
