Federporn Friday (by LJ) – Celebrating the draw from HELL (AO2013)

Well it has been a long time since we had one of these right? Well we’ve decided regardless of the result of tonights semi against Murray, we’re celebrating the fact that old man Fudd made it this far with the draw from hell.

So here are a few (okay a LOT) of my favourite pictures I took at AO2013. Again I’m pining for that photographer media pass one day…but until then I’ll have to be content with just hitting a lot of other people in the head with my giant canon 70-200mm F4L.

Again I made a short sojourn to the Australian Open, to watch some tennis…meet up with awesome tweeps like Dootsiez and PJ…and of course stalk Wogie…and take pictures of his bouncy hair.

For those unfamiliar with the Australian Open, it’s I think the only Grand Slam with full access to players practicing. (Although I’m not sure about RG, someone correct me on this). And this year they’ve made it even easier to stalk. An electronic practice schedule board was erected near the practice courts and all the info was also posted daily online.

This is great, this is fair, this allows a whole heap of grounds pass holders to see top players they otherwise might not see. It also means that first timers, autograph hoarders and various other members of the public now know where to camp out.

So what used to be an easy 30min wait to get the fence position for Fed’s practice has turned into a minimum 75-90 minute wait under the sun. Some even camped out for 3-4 hours to guarantee the fence. Oh I miss the old days when you used to get a secret text from an RF commer or checked the printed schedules at RLA where only a few knew to check.

It’s democratisation peeps…sometimes I thought I was too old for this stuff…but you know…when you’re there…you can’t help it.

For jaded seasoned Fed stalking pros like us, even though we’ve got too many signed RF caps, and the holy grail, an actual photo with the man…when you’re surrounded by a few hundred cray cray people willing to wait in the sun for hours to see a potato nose dork hit some balls. I guess you get carried away in the fervour no matter what.

Even ballboys and security get excited…

The thing is…I admire Mr Feddypants mostly for his tennis. Sure my admiration of his tennis improved after he cut his hair and allowed Mirka to dress him but I never really thought him as “hot” per se. After all, he’s a complete dork, occasional idiot and is unpassionately serene most of the time playing tennis. But for those lucky enough to see him in person…the man is… RIDICULOUSLY ATTRACTIVE. When he’s broad-shouldered 6’1 frame is in front of you, the FACT literally…hits you IN THE FACE!!!!

WHY ARE YOU SO ATTRACTIVE YOU BIG DORK????
