Trophy Porn: Who’s your daddy?

That’s my boy. *dies from the adorbness*

Are we done celebrating yet, fellow Fedophiles?

Of course not! After the tears of last year, I’m taking my time to revel in this victory. First with a picspam:

Mad props to the Australian Open organizers for the new lighting they brought in this year for the trophy presentation. The atmosphere was magical.

To the AFP folks making these after every slam: you know 17 is a prime number, right?

The videos of the post-match interviews with Ch 7, Eurosport and EPSN:

The TV studios were set up in a row on top of the main gate to Melbourne Park and Roger basically just walked into one studio, stayed there for 5 minutes, walked out, waved at his minions for a bit, then walked into the next one.

I gotta say, I was one of those humble minions screaming til my lungs deflated in the background.

Ch 7 first:

ESPN:

The best interview out of the lot with Eurosport.

Interesting point raised by Mats Wilander in relation to an “improved Federer”. My impression watching Federer over the past fortnight is that he’s speedier now than he has been over the last 2 years. Certainly, he’s defending is better so he’s playing with more patience than in some of his matches early last year.

With the Australian Open over, Roger spent his last day in Melbourne doing photo-ops and interviews along the banks of the Yarra at the Alexandra Gardens. Watch out for the epic ovary-combusting cuteness at 3:40.

Oh Roger, please tell me you did not go to the staff party to thank everyone? And please tell me I did not decide not to go when I could’ve gone? 😦

Since when do the champs go visit the staff after-party anyway? Stuff you and your niceness, douchebag.

xx doots

do the people in Times and Gerard Whateleywho read about these gestures ,you know the qualities of a man become evident in his behaviour with those below him and Roger is always polite and respectful to those less fortunate than him….. what is the point in asking him ridiculous questions like how he wins year after year? He obviously knows he is talented and he knew it from a very young age. Roger loves this game, does a lot for it ,works his ass off to excel and yet hypocrites who pose as sports writers would begrudge him his moment of triumph when they are oh so eager to kick him when he is down.

  2. Wellspring says :

Awww, the adorableness. First, would Papa Fed please adopt me? Failing that, would Roger adopt me? How cool is it to get to celebrate a slam before you are one year old? Ridiculous.

Many, many thanks, for all the pics and video clips, as well as for the all-around great coverage of this Open, and let’s throw in some thanks for the entire blog while we are in it – I am fully planning on building you a shrine sometime in the near future, decorated with Federbears, pink babygrows and pictures of the Heroic Hair

Being a fan of Roger have always been a privilege and a pleasure, but finding your blog gave it a whole new crazily fantastic dimension! 🙂

    • dootsiez says :

Thanks for the lovely words Wellspring! I love frazzling over Roger with you guys myself. It’s a privilege to have someone read your words and enjoy it. 😀

  3. Jack says :

Whenever I see Papa Fed, I can’t help but shout “SUPER MARIO!”. Especially when he has that red RF cap on. 🙂

I will NEVER get bored of seeing Roger holding a Grand Slam trophy. Plus I like it that Serena went all glamourous for her shoot, whilst Roger went for a casual look.

But isn’t it insane when you think he has 16 Grand Slams!! Whats even more insane is thinking how many he can get before his careers over.

I think Roger has improved over the years. But I think its like he said, guys like Murray, Nadal, Del Potro etc have made him improve and get better.

And I too want to thank you for your crazy daily updates from the Australian Open. I have never felt more sane than after reading your blog! :D……only kidding, we’re all as crazy as each other. Grand Slams tend to bring out the crazy, pyschotic sides in us fedfans. 🙂

  4. sita says :

Hee…His first title as dad and he poses with his own father … Must admit it is supercute but don’t ya know the rules , Rog ? you are supposed to be posing with your babies and the trophy 😀 😀

  5. Dippy says :

Cute pics of Roger and ‘Super Mario’ dad. I just love it how he continues to ‘correct’ those so-called expert pundits who wrote him off and keep saying he declining. Show them Rog!!!

  6. Liz says :

I was hoping for the babies posing with the cup! I guess they have better things to do– babbling, chewing on teething rings, rolling over….

There was a really cute picture of Roger hugging his mom after winning either the French or Wimby. He seems to have a great relationship with them — no psycho tennis parents here!

  7. breadstix says :

Ooohhhh, he was at the staff party? Which you could have gone to?? Gutted!

N’aww, the twins should’ve totally posed with the trophy. Sat in it or something. 🙂 Imagine that, cuteness of epic proportions.

‘you know 17 is a prime number’
I guess they could just cheat and make some of the pics slightly bigger than others. Or maybe he could win both RG and Wimby again this year, y’know, since they’re only a month apart maybe they could get away with it. ;P

Enjoyed every bit of your reporting, tweeting and frazzling over the past 2/3 weeks, doots. Trophy porn is just the icing on the large, [feddy-]poopy sweet 16 cake.

  8. evie says :

He apparently gave a long interview to the French daily L’Equipe, which was translated into a Spanish pub (I know some Spanish, not French). Lots of interesting stuff about what he plans to do after 2012 Olympics (go to places to play he’s never been before, like Argentina) and about his fitness regime and Davis Cup. I thought this passage was fun inside info:

“Si no duermo 11 ó 12 horas por día, no está bien, me lastimo. Cuando las mellizas lloran y estoy en un torneo, me pongo los tapones para los oídos y vuelvo a dormir”, reconoció, en busca del descanso necesario para un atleta de elite mundial.

“If I don’t sleep 11 or 12 hours a day, it’s not good and I can injury myself. When the twins cry and I’m at a tournament, I put earplugs in my ears and go to sleep,” he recalled, on how to get the necessary sleep for a top world athlete.

  9. evie says :

btw — he also joked that he was not going to give the trophy back to the “trophy keeper,” who was apparently in the room, and told the reporters that since the guy can’t understand what he is saying (in French), he’ll never know.

  10. jfk says :

I love Robbie Federer! And yeah it reminds me of when Lynette hugged Roger when he had the French Open trophy in his hands!
Thanks for your great coverage. How you managed to usher and also keep this blog updated is really awesome and greatly appreciated..Too bad you missed the afterparty, hopefully you’ll see Roger there next year 😀

  11. PJ says :

Fed has the best parents in the world, which is also why he’ll be the best daddy in the world (well, after my own dad MUHAHHA). I love the picture of him and his dad, although it always amuses me to imagine Roger as his father 40 years down the road.

Trophy porn has got to be the best porn after hair porn. I’m still on this giddy high and it’s already Tuesday! Can’t believe our man did it, numbah sixteen, baybeh! To your face, doubters!

Thanks for the amazing picspam and videospam. Gotta get to all of those before networks etc go snooty and claim copyright.

Oh, and on another note, apparently there was a HOLE in the right leg of his jeans? Fashion statement, y/n? A journalist called that “not so peRFect, only human”. Hahahahahha.

  12. Paul says :

Were you kitted out in full Swiss gear with a big Swiss flag at the final?

I think I saw someone who could be you on TV but it’s hard to tell, as I only know what you look like from your wee tiny photo.

    • dootsiez says :

LOL I wasn’t on TV I don’t think. We were on the big screen for like a split second during the Davydenko match. Hard to say – the entire Asian population of Melbourne turned up to support Federer for some obscure reason.

  13. BS says :

As the others above said, it’s been great reading your posts over the last two weeks, it’s amazing how you find the time to constantly keep this blog updated while you probably have other things to do that are way more important than this! Your coverage has been second to none and I mean that 🙂

It’s great to have found this blog, I have always enjoyed follwing Federer, and it is great to be reading positive stories about him, instead of seeing all the nasty comments about him being a douchebag and everything, which really isn’t fair. I’m delighted about this win and this gives the Federer haters and everyone else who keeps writing him off something to think about because he really looks the best he has probably for the last two years. Hopefully he can push on and have another great year.

  14. whynotme says :

Just a quick word to thank you doots for your amazing coverage!! Much better than any of the mainstream media 😀 You had the time of your life, and so did we in a way thx to you!

I’m still on cloud nine 2 days later, and I don’t plan on coming down any time soon!

Do you think you’ll have time for a wrap-up poem? That would be awesome! 😀

  15. Chairman, Federer Puny Left Arm Society says :

Thanks for your great coverage the last 2 weeks.

Now, we can breathe easy until the French Open comes along.
I am telling ya, being RF fan is not easy.

Somewhere, someplace Playstation is wondering what the hell happenned!! I guess that is what seperates the real champions from the Playstations.

Does anyone know who the young girl (8 years?) in the Federer box was? She looks like she may have some Federer family in her.
