Federporn Friday: I spy with my porno eye, something beginning with R.

I may not be able to take photos while I am at work, but I have helpers y’all! My fellow Aussie Fedophiles – PJ and LJ – were both at the Oz Open this week to stalk and spy, and were kind enough to share their photos and thoughts.

PJ was at Melbourne Park yesterday, and sent me this report. 

 

Hello Doots!

Hope you’re resting well after a busy day ushering at Melbourne Park. I was at Hisense for Baggy/Ferrer, entering through Door 1. Guess you were not ushering there! I saw a bit of Venus Williams, too, but then left for Youzhny/Some Guy and Haas/Tippy, and of course, stalking Federer.

I nearly missed him as post-stalking Roddick, we were told “players” will be at practice court from 5PM. I left Haas/Tippy at 4.30PM thinking I’ll reach court 16 nice and early for a good spot for photos. BUT when I got there, Fed has already started practicing, so I very painfully sort of shoved my way into a marginally decent spot for photos (not as good as my Roddick spot.)

 

Anyway, Roger seemed relaxed on practice court, not interacting much with the screaming “ROGER LOOK HERE” fans from courtside. He mostly practiced his backhand and forehand, and a little bit of returning. At one point he was dumping balls into the net, which prompted some wise guy behind me to comment that he wasn’t playing well, predicted he would lose tonight and that the wise guy himself was probably able to beat Federer.

There was also a kid’s tennis coach behind me (because he was arranging lessons through phonecalls) and he had the cutest little girl who was asking her dad, “who is playing now, daddy?” and the dad answered “the man in grey is Roger Federer” to which the little girl replied, “and he is the best tennis player in the WORLD, isn’t he, daddy? Better than you.” and that made me LOL.

 

 

Roger was hitting with three other guys in which I have NO freaking idea who they are (fail) but one young guy seemed to be really awestruck and starstruck to be there for some reason. Roger also practised serving, missed a few serves and returns, seemed mildly blah about it, but not frustrated or anything. He didn’t practise long…only about 20 minutes, then Verdasco came onto court 16. They exchanged a few words, and Roger left with a wave of his hand, much to disappointed fans holding out items to be autographed (myself included with my AO cap, boo hoo).

 

 

The match that followed was smooth and a regular day in the office for Fed…amazing, line-painting shots here and there, but also a few UE’s with overhits of his forehand. That being said, forehand was good enough. Backhand looked great tonight, by the way. Serve wasn’t awesome but effective. He faced breakpoint a couple of times, saved them efficiently. The only time I wanted to kill myself was when he was 0-40 down in the second set I think…he had already had a break, but to be broken means back on serve. I was like OMG YOU FUCKER GET IT TOGETHER and he did…five points in succession to hold serve THANK GOD.

Seriously Doots…tonight’s match was smooth and I was already all OMGOMGOMG *faints*. You have my utmost respect for surviving Fed/Andreev. And now I wait in apprehension for QF night. NO JINXING.

LJ: I hope the entire thing is on a torrent somewhere because I need to relive every moment. I was in a complete state of disbelief that I witnessed a bunch of top players goofing around like school kids….still hasn’t fully sunk in.
